Abstract

The goal of these investigations was to estimate, on selected genetic materials, the correlations among leaf length, leaf width, leaf L/W ratio, leaf area, leaf thickness and leaf weight at the same position on the stalk, but also among the different leaf positions on the stalk. The trial was set up according to the RCBD in four replications at the experimental field of the Tobacco Institute Zagreb in Božjakovina from 1992 to 1995. Four-year average data among the mentioned leaf parameters were used for the calculation of correlations. According to the obtained results the investigated leaf parameters were mostly positively associated with each other. Perfect and strong to perfect significant and positive correlations were estimated among leaf length, leaf width, leaf area and leaf weight, independently of the leaf position on the stalk. However, leaf L/W ratio and the other leaf parameters were negatively and nonsignificantly correlated with each other.
