Summary

In order to expand the number of red grape cultivars suitable for Northern Dalmatia subregion experimental vineyard has been planted on the farm 'Bastica' PK Zadar. The large number of red grape cultivar has been introducted. Seven of them are spread in central and southern Italy (Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Malvasia nera di Lecce, Ciliegiolo, Aglianico, Cabernet sauvignon, Moscato rosa), which have similar ecological conditions as the area of Ravni Kotari. During the five years period agrobiological, and production-technological characteristic (vegetation cycle, yield, bud fertility, mechanical composition of berries and bunches, most and wine quality) have been investigated under these ecological conditions.
According to the results of the firs introduction, cultivars Cabernet sauvignon, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Moscato rosa have shown the best results, and it has been recommended to plant them on larger experimental fields. Besides these cultivars, some of the other may be interesting too, but it is necessary to make some changes in production technology in order to express their full genetic potential.
